Future Rockstar

Taylor loves to talk and coo now...it is really precious! Her favorite word is "aaahhhoo". She had her first couple go-rounds with the rice cereal this week and took it like a champ! I held up this outfit and thought surely it would be way too big....but it is exactly what she needed. Now we just have to work on growing some hair!

New Clothes

The butterfly jacket was a hit. She hasn't asked for the Wiggles shirt in days!

Two Babies + Back to Work = Out of Date Blog

OK, so behind on the blogging. One month back to work and I think we are finally getting the hang of things. Taylor has had a huge growth spurt and is now almost 15 pounds! I think Laynie was 1 year and walking at that weight. She is also in the 90th percentile for height! Meanwhile, Laynie has more to say than ever (most of which begins with "I want") but will probably fit into most all of her 18-24 mo. fall clothes that she wore last year...what a peanut!

First Day of School

Laynie moved up to a new classroom today and Taylor had her first day at school. Both girls did great, as did Mommy. Luckily the Verizon Fios guy was at our house all day to keep my mind off of how empty it otherwise felt (Roxy helped with that situation as well, with plenty of yipping at the poor Verizon guy). I was so excited to pick them both up at the end of the day, and to hear how well it had went.

Spoiled Rotten (Aunt Jen comes to visit)

We MUST get a better photo of this (Taylor was obviously melting down when we made this attempt), but couldn't believe we forgot our camera this weekend for our trip to Red Hill. We spent two nights at Mimma and Pa-paws' house. The girls spread out in all of the bedrooms and Mom and Dad slept on the couches downstairs! Jen was in town for the UVA game, so Sunday was spent at the mall where, of course, our first stop was Build-a-Bear. Laynie brought home Star in her Miley Cyrus outfit (Laynie's new favorite singer) and Taylor brought home her first B-a-B, Cheetah. Laynie also got new school shoes (Puma's) and to play in the food court playground and at the fountains. The trip ended in tears, however, because we did not get to ride the choo-choo train. Apparently a few other families had planned on that and the line was over an hour long.....Laynie wanted to wait, but Mom and Dad couldn't handle it...how will we ever survive a trip to Disney World? The day was saved when we returned to the house and Laynie got to make cupcakes, eat ice cream and pop water balloons for the rest of the afternoon. Taylor got all kinds of good sugar (and gave some out as well) from the us all. It was great to have a few extra sets of arms to hold her.

Ears Pierced!

Yes, the clip on earrings just would not do. On a quick trip to the mall Friday, Josh and Laynie surprised Mommy with real pierced ears. I had taken Taylor to run into a few stores and when we met back up, there was my big girl! The earrings are pink "diamonds" and Laynie didn't even squeal. She's so proud of them --- it is precious!

12 Weeks

So this is why they make maternity leave 12 weeks....so many fun things start happening just in time to head back to work! Bathtime induces smiles and laughs (yes, she laughs out loud now) rather than tears, we start sleeping through the night (1-2 times a week is a start, right?!) and she can entertain herself alone (she watched two episodes of Dora....almost 45 minutes...yesterday without the slightest fuss) better and better. Oh well, it will make it that much more fun to come home to them both each night.
